By the end of today’s lesson you should understand and be able to define the following terms:

  • Circulation- count of how many copies of a particular publication are distributed 
  • Readership- an estimate of how many readers a publication has 
  • Left wing- support those who cannot help themselves/ idealists and believe in equality 
  • Right wing- value tradition/ believe in economic freedom/ believe that we should all look after ourselves 
  • Tabloid- popular newspapers/ they write short stories using simple language/ they have read masthead and report on politics, international news but mainly tend to include celebrity gossip 
  • Broadsheet- quality newspapers/ the style of writing include long sentences and paragraphs and in-depth analysis/ have higher newspaper content but lower circulation

  • Predictability- The Brexit news story is topical from while ago, from 2016 referendum to now days 
  • Continuity- This story already has been defined in the media spectrums
